How to look good naked at the gym

Harpers Fitness is launching a brand new concept in gym programming. They are encouraging their members and customers across their leisure centres to bare all this April in a bid to shed a few extra pounds.

From the 1 April, Harpers Fitness is launching naked gym sessions in all their gyms, following requests from their members and scientific evidence, which shows that working out completely nude is in fact good for our health and burns off more calories.

“Working out naked is very good for you,” says Alf Lopori, Harpers Fitness sport scientist and health expert. “And you actually burn twice as many calories than you would normally burn off when exercising fully clothed. The reason is the ‘embarrassment factor’. Being embarrassed and feeling a little uncomfortable, releases chemicals which speeds up the metabolism and helps our bodies burn off even more calories, which is great news for those trying to shed a few extra pounds.”

Kevin Yates, National Health and Fitness Manager says: “We have been getting quite a few requests for nude gym sessions for some time, so we thought why not, let’s give it a go. There are of course health and safety requirements - we insist all users wear appropriate footwear and bring a towel for the machines that they sit on. We have trialled the nude-cising at a few of our clubs and on the whole, the sessions were extremely popular and have delivered some great results for our users.”

Naked gym sessions are available at Harpers Fitness nationwide. For more information and to see if you local Harpers Fitness is running naked gym programmes, please scroll down for more information.
