The Food Standard Agency has highlighted that cinema goers who choose certain cinema treats face eating excessive calories in their movie snacks.

They have found that a large bag of sweet popcorn contains 1,800 calories per serving. Not only that but so called 'healthy popcorn', the salted version, also contains over 1,700 - as many calories as fish and chips or pizza, garlic bread and dessert!

Over cinema snacks also contain a high number of calories, including hot dogs which contain over 700 calories,

Drink options at cinemas have also come under attack as many large options for Coke and Pepsi are served in cups that hold over 3 pints of liquid, sizes that experts say is excessive.

This announcement from the Food Standard Agency comes in a week when obesity experts warn that 80% of men will be overweight or clinically obese by the year 2020.
