The Pilates Room - Workshops 2009

- 24th of February 2009

The Seminar Series - Module 1

This weekend starts with the covering the basic history of Pilates as well as going in depth into Return to Life and the foundations of the work. We then progress into the initial presentation of mat and reformer work for clients new to Pilates. Following this we add beginner work on the Cadillac, and High and Low Chairs, also considering alternative exercises that are great to use at the start or end of each session and can be given for homework. This is a great way to review the purpose of each exercise, and how to go deeper into the body using the fundamental work which is the foundation of the intermediate/advanced work.

The Seminar Series - Module 2

Here we will continue layering on the work of the first module, progressing to the start of intermediate Mat, Reformer, Cadillac and High/Low Chairs. At this time we introduce some work on the Spine Corrector. This module includes looking at how to create a session for a client and how to see when they are ready to progress from beginner to intermediate work. Some time will be taken to discuss the modification of exercises for injury as well as practising identifying the main bony landmarks of the body.

The Seminar Series - Module 3

The weekend will start by reviewing the previous levels covered. We will look at using imagery and verbal cueing to elicit a deeper response out of the body and also to challenge the instructor to a higher level of teaching. Then we will go deeper into the intermediate work of Mat, Reformer, Cadillac, High/Low Chairs and Spine Corrector,  lastly progressing into the start of the more advanced work.

The Seminar Series - Module 4

We will review all prior modules then progress to advanced work on Mat, Reformer, Cadillac High Barrel and High/Low Chair. If any parts of the body are still weak, it will show up in the advanced work. We will look at what has been missed in the fundamental exercises, and how to strengthen and prepare the body for the stamina necessary for the most advanced exercises.
