First Aid & CPR training course: HFI Group

First Aid Certification is essential for all fitness instructors and personal trainers, both for public liability insurance purposes and for piece of mind.

All personal trainers and fitness / gym instructors require a valid First Aid / Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) qualification BEFORE they practice their skills with clients in a health club, leisure centre or at the clients home.

This must be a valid qualification approved by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). Personal trainers and fitness / gym instructors should maintain this qualification to maximise the safety of your clients and to maintain your public liability insurance.

HFI Group First Aid certification

The HFI Group First Aid courses and the certificate you receive are approved by the HSE and the certificate is valid for 3 years.

The First Aid courses are specifically designed for fitness and gym instructors and personal trainers to maximise learning and be 100% applicable to first aid within an exercise environment.

WARNING: If you do not have a current approved First Aid certificate and you are working as a fitness consultant or personal trainer, you must acquire one immediately.

First Aid course content

The 1 day HFI Group First Aid training course programme covers the requirements for first aid training as required by the Health & Safety Executive. The primary aim of the First Aid course is to assess priorities of treatment, demonstrate resuscitation procedures and the action to be taken when dealing with First Aid in the work place.

The programmes of study include:

• Aims and responsibilities of the first aider
• Priorities of treatment
• Adult resuscitation
• Adult Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
• Recognision and treatment of bleeding
• Recognision and treatment of shock
• Incident management
• Initial assessment
• Airway obstruction
• Treating heart attacks
• Treating diabetes
• Treating asthma

This comprehensive programme will award graduating students a HSE recognised first aid certificate which is valid for 3 years.
