Waist to Hip Ratio (WHR) test

The waist to hip ratio (WHR) test is an objective means of measuring body fat distribution above and below the waist. It is calculated simply by dividing an person's waist girth (around the umbilicus) by their hip girth (taken from the widest point).

This calculation will then allow a person to assess whether they are an 'apple' shape (andriod) or a 'pear' shape (gynoid).

NOTE: The android shape is classically thought of a male shape while the gynoid shape classically a female shape.
