The Future Fit gym instructor course will allow you to develop and aquire all the skills and knoweldge required to become a qualified fitness instructor. The first port of call before understanding the Gym Instructor training course is the Future Fit Anatomy & Physiology theory module. Once you have this under your belt the next stage of becoming a fitness instructor, or a qualified personal trainer for that matter, is the Gym Instructor course module.

Gym Instructor Course - The practical workshop

The Gym Instructor Course Practical Workshop sessions are held at a Future Fit Training Centre in your area, usually on over a three day weekend (Fri to Sun). Here, you will meet with the other students on your Gym Instructor Course. The course will cover:

  • The realities of being a fitness instructor
  • The realities of working in health and fitness
  • How to prepare lessons
  • Practice of your gym instruction skills

The three-day Gym Instructor Course  covers a range of key fitness and exercise areas, including:

  • CV machines
  • Free weights
  • Resistance machines
  • Exercise programming
  • Stretching

The Gym Instructor Course DVD

Future Fit Training Gym Instructor DVD is available to all graduates of the Gym Instructor Course. The DVD shows all the exercises you have been taught. This will not only help you prepare for your assessment, it will be a constant reference tool for correct exercise techniques in the months to come after the course.

Gym Instructor Course Assessment

The Gym Instructor Course is based on:

  1. A Theory assessment
  2. A practical assessment

The assessed part of the Future Fit Training Gym Instructor Course in a one hour multi-choice exam, which you take on the first day of the Practical Workshop. You get the chance to repeat the exam should you fail.

The Practical assessment for the Gym Instructor Course follows typically at least four weeks after the last workshop.

The Gym Instructor Course Awards

After passing the multi-choice exam and practical assessment, you will be awarded the Future Fit Training Stage 1 N/SVQ Gym Instructor Course Certificate – your licence to teach.

As a qualified Gym Instructor / fitness instructor working in the health and fitness industry, health club members will will look to you for guidance and direction on all aspects of exercise and fitness. After completing the Future Fit Training Gym Instructor Course, you should be competent to advise and direct your clients on:

  • Fitness and exercise and the best ways to get fit
  • The delivery of a range of exercise programmes
  • Instruction of the most effective use of CV and resistance machines and free weights

Gym Instructor Course Awards - NVQ Level 2

In order to qualify foe the NVQ Level 2 Gym Instructor Course award you will first need to develop a portfolio of work based on your contact when working with the general public This is not at all difficult. You will be provided with a Portfolio-building Resource Pack and Guide, and full tutorial support.

Following a period of work experience, and a successful 2nd Stage assessment, you will gain your full NVQ level 2 in Exercise and Fitness.
