Middlethorpe Hall, York, is a William III country house, close to the city, set in 20 acres of its own gardens and parkland. Built in 1699, it was once the home of the famous diarist, Lady Mary Wortley Montagu.

After a period of neglect, Middlethorpe Hall was purchased and restored by Historic House Hotels who also own Hartwell House, Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, and Bodysgallen Hall, North Wales. The house is now decorated with antiques and fine pictures carefully chosen as consistent with the period of the house. The gardens and parkland have also been restored and include ha ha's, a white garden, a walled garden, a small lake and some beautiful specimen trees.

Middlethorpe Hall Spa

An essential part of a visit to Middlethorpe Hall is the opportunity to relax and enjoy the pleasures of the Spa. Swim in the warm clear water of the inviting pool lined with blue mosaic tiles, relax in the steam room, saunas and the bubbling waters of the whirlpool bath.

Experienced therapists offer a wide range of beauty treatments using Clarins, E'SPA, Jessica and St. Tropez products. Middlethorpe Spa Health and Beauty Days and Half Days and individual treatments are available to guests and non-residents.

Residential guests and Club members have full use of the Spa with its indoor swimming pool, whirlpool spa bath, steam room, sauna, gymnasium, and club room. Beauty treatments are available for non-residents and non-members.

They all encourage relaxation after the stress and pace of modern life. They include facials, body and scalp treatments, massages and cosmetic care for the whole body including manicures, pedicures, waxing and bronzing treatments. Most treatments are as beneficial to men as they are for ladies.

These treatments include use of the best recommended product ranges by Clarins and Jessica. They are available to hotel guests, Spa Club members and those booking Half and Full Day Health and Beauty treatments.
