Major muscles used

  • Latisimus Dorsi - Upper back
  • Rhomboids - Middle back
  • Biceps

Performing partner assisted pull ups

  • Refer to each of the three variations of pull-ups for specific instructions on grip, etc.
  • Once you have decided the method of Pull-up and you have the proper grip, begin doing Pull-ups. Wen you can no longer do a Pull-up on your own lift your feet up so that your partner can hold them at their waist.
  • Pull-up, squeezing your shoulder blades together. If you need assistance simply push your feet down on your partners hands. This will allow you to perform each repetition. You decide how much assistance you need by applying force to your partners hands.

Be careful

Don't use your partners assistance until you really need it. Do as many Pull-ups as you can (with proper technique); when you can no longer do a Pull-up on your own simply lift your feet up so your partner can hold your feet and assist you.

Alternative exercises to partner assisted pull ups

NOTE: Only perform pull ups when you can successfully perform at least 10 reps of partner assisted pull ups.
