Become a sports development officer

Sports development jobs and careers in the UK are a fantastic opportunity for people who are passionate about sports and want to develop this in others. There is a large range of sports development jobs mostly based with local authorities and governing bodies although some private clubs look to develop youth teams. Sports development jobs in the UK can be specific to a sport or can be broad ranging. They can be with the young or the old or even minority group specific or specialising in disabled groups.

Variety of sports development jobs

In some communities within the UK there are different attitudes towards dress, diet and exercise. A good example is the older Asian generation who can like fried and oily food, and take very little exercise, particularly in women who may feel uncomfortable or look unfavourably upon most clothes worn for exercise. In these circumstances it is arranged that people go to community centres to recruit for sports activities aimed at a suitable level as well as take classes on site in some cases involving seated exercises fully clothed in order to build confidence.

Voluntary sports development

There is some solid work done by voluntary sports development workers and coaches, often giving week day evenings as well as weekends voluntarily. Sports development creeps into most roles in sports or in fact all. At high club standards annual fees levied on members go towards paying for coaches, part of the job again will include developing youth teams and meeting the demands of teams of different abilities.

Sports development at university

Sports development teams work at university level to encourage young athletes in education and into education. Some Universities are involved with the Olympic teams In fact sports development is also massively involved in the media where loyalty payments are negotiated and sponsors are found. Sports development is a massive industry generating at the top end some very good opportunities.
