The Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne, Australia, suggests children should be banned from watching TV until they are 2 years old as it can seriously damage the development of their language skills and have a negative impact on their attension spans.

The guidelines drawn up by the Royal Children's Hopital suggest that children should be encouraged to read and solve problem solving puzzles rather than spending hours in front of the box.

The UK National Literacy Trust also suggest that children aged 3 to 5 years old should spend a maximum of 1 hour per day watching television.

So, to allow your child to fully develop and become active from an early age, keep to Tv to a minimum but increase the amount 'play time', reading and problem solving activities they are engaged in.
