Become a qualified fitness instructor

Jobs as a fitness instructor are increasingly popular. To get your first fitness job you will need a recognised fitness instructor qualification usually related to the NVQ system. Visit our fitness training course section out more . Once you have your qualification you are ready to start this exciting role that can make a difference to thousands of peoples lives.

Training as a fitness instructor

As a professional fitness instructor during the course of your career there are hundreds of training modules you can take to develop your career such as cardio rehab, circuit training, strength conditioning. These can enhance your interest and professional development as well as offer greater earning potential. Your next step may well be to take a personal training qualification.

Most employers will only train you once you have a fitness instruction module, however many will offer a minimum level of training every year and maybe train you as a personal trainer in house.

There are also Agencies that specialise in fitness, the leading agency for fitness jobs is www.leisurevacancies.co.uk with a great new website and thousands of jobs listed across the industry.

RVQ's for fitness instructors

As well as NVQ’s there are RVQ’s which are Related Vocational Qualifications, currently it is Southampton University that lead the way in this respect with a further fifteen expected to join the programme next year.

There are also new two year Foundation Degrees being released now with Leeds Metropolitan University and the University of Luton are offering these courses. They are very much like a HND except they are even further related to the vocational skills required to work in industry.
