Hollywood Diet

The Hollywood Diet is also known as the Hollywood 48 Hour Miracle Diet.

This so-called Hollywood Diet claimed to be an exclusive "Miracle Juice" scientifically formulated so that in a mere 48 hours you will cleanse your body and lose up to 10 pounds!

How does the Hollywood Diet work?

The short term weight loss seen on the Hollywood Diet will simply be water lost from the body rather than any desired body fat loss. The body is made up primarily of water, from 60 - 75 % of total body weight is water. Lossing weight, even as much as 10 pounds in 2 days is possible if water is lost.

By not eating but drinking the Hollywood Miracle Juice the bod's muscles will lose water. Muscles hold muscle glycogen (carbohydrates are converted into sugars then into muscle glycogen in the body) and water. The more glycogen the more water is held in the muscles. With little or no muscle glycogen the body can excrete any excess water in urine.

This means rapid weight loss can be seen as a byproduct of what appears to be a low calorie + miracle juice diet combination.

Advantages of the Hollywood Diet

The good news is that the Hollywood Diet is 100% natural. The miracle juice promoted in the Hollywood Diet is simply a blended fruit drink, including berries, apples, orange juice and other natural nutrient dense foods.

This means that during the 48 hour Hollywood Diet period the body will still be provided with some essential vitamins and minerals.

Disadvantages of the Hollywood Diet

As early suggested any weight loss observed during the Hollywood Diet is merely through water loss. This means that as soon as the dieter begins to eat protein and carbohydrates again as part of a balanced diet the body will retain water and any weight loss seen will disappear.

Not only that but starving the body, after all that is what the Hollywood Diet promotes, allows two key physiological outcomes to occur, both of which are the bane of any dieter. Firstly not eating protein will see muscle mass reduction. Any loss of muscle mass during a diet will lower the metabolism - meaning any weight further weight loss will take more time. Secondly, starving yourself means the body will start to hold onto body fat rather than burn it. Why? Well in times of limited food maintaining body fat will be the factor that keeps us alive.

The Hollywood Diet - Conclusion

The Hollywood Diet is either a myth or a fad, or maybe both. Mythical because nobody has ever admitted using this form or diet programme. A fad because like most fad diets the Hollywood diet is neither sustainable nor the way to see prolonged weight loss. My suggestion would be to use 'miracle' fruit drinks smoothies sparingly, if at all, as fruits are make up of simple sugars which could increase insulin production and promote weight gain rather than weight loss.
